What is the New Forest Dog Owners Group?

It all began in May 2001. Articles accusing dogs of attacking livestock appeared in the press, and after every other Foot & Mouth restriction had been lifted, dogs were still required to be on leads in the Forest. Also dog walkers were hearing rumours of increasing restrictions by the 'Countryside & Rights of Way Act' (the CROW Act).

A small group of us got together, who cared passionately about retaining our traditional 'privilege' (never a legal right) of walking our dogs on the Forest freely, whilst keeping them fully under control. New Forest Dog Owners Group was born.

NFDOG has rebuffed repeated attempts to put the “dogs-on-leads” issue back on the agenda, and we need your support to continue this campaign.

NFDOG is the ONLY group that speaks up for Forest dog walkers.

NFDOG successfully negotiated a code of conduct (see below) enshrining our traditional freedoms that were threatened.

NFDOG has an email register that gives members exclusive access to hundreds of fellow dog owners who will look out for lost dogs.
